I use Skills-based routing with 27 skills with trigger descriptions which beats single MEMORY.md routing files hands down. Its more granular and your entire memory doesn't fire everytime

Great writeup Michael. Been building something very similar (also on Claude Code - though CLI, also markdown-first) and independently landed on nearly the exact same architecture, which was the wild part when I first heard you walk through it on Supra Insider.

Your point about the folks that can articulate what they want is spot on. The memory/context as you said is critical, and to me the real "unlock" for Claude code. The people getting the most out of these systems are the ones who can externalize how they think. That's a product skill (or what I'd call a connector skill), not an engineering skill - and you don't need that part anymore.

One thing I ran into pretty quickly once my system started acting on its own (proactive reminders, reading email, surfacing things I didn't ask for): trust boundaries. Who decides what it can do without asking? I wrote about that side of it here if anyone's curious: https://substack.com/home/post/p-193815866

Really glad you published the templates and bootstrap prompt & the fact one can just use the desktop app. That lowers the barrier for people who want to try this but don't know where to start.
